Wayne, PA is one of the most recognized communities along Philadelphia’s Main Line. About 14 miles from Center City, Wayne is a vibrant suburb that blends historic character with modern living. The community is primarily in Radnor Township, with parts extending into Tredyffrin Township in Chester County and Upper Merion Township in Montgomery County.
Wayne’s story dates back to the 1800s when a small railroad stop called Cleaver’s Landing was renamed Wayne Station in honor of Revolutionary War hero General Anthony “Mad” Wayne. Soon after, banker J. Henry Askin helped spur growth with his mansion “Louella,” and later Anthony J. Drexel and George W. Childs developed the surrounding Wayne Estate. Their vision created one of the country’s first planned suburbs, complete with the conveniences of city life in a peaceful suburban setting.
Today, Wayne is known for its lively downtown centered on Lancaster and Wayne Avenues, where shops, cafés, and restaurants create a bustling main street feel. Landmarks like the Wayne Hotel, the Wayne Art Center, and cultural treasures such as Chanticleer Garden and the Radnor Trail give the community a mix of charm, beauty, and activity. Families are also drawn to Wayne for its excellent schools, including Radnor Township School District and Tredyffrin/Easttown School District, as well as top private options like The Shipley School, Agnes Irwin, Malvern Prep, and Episcopal Academy.

Working in Wayne
Over the years we have been fortunate to work on many projects in Wayne, and a few stand out as some of our favorites. On Louella Avenue, we worked in a beautiful historic home where our team built a custom shiplap room, finished with a flawless spray application. We also completed interior painting, wallpaper work, and refinished a wooden staircase and wainscoting by stripping, staining, and bringing the original wood back to life.
Another project we loved was at the historic Saturday Club on West Wayne Avenue, a landmark that has been part of the community since 1886. We were proud to contribute to its preservation with interior ceiling painting and exterior work, helping keep this special building looking its best for years to come.
